Romécourt, Sustainable Destination !
Our sustainability policies
Our Actions:
Located in the heart of the Lorraine Regional Natural Park, we take action every day to preserve nature and pass on this heritage to future generations.
From eco-friendly maintenance practices to supporting local supply chains, including biodiversity protection and well-being, every action matters.
- Cleaning / Maintenance : We use only natural cleaning products (such as white vinegar) and/or eco-certified products, and we air-dry laundry outdoors.
- Water : We use well water to water flowers and planters, and we reuse water from washing vegetables for irrigation.
- Electriciy : We systematically switch off outdoor lighting after a certain hour and whenever the cottages are unoccupied.
- Garden : We create late-mowing areas to help preserve biodiversity, and we plant mainly local, low water–consumption species. We also install birdhouses and protect swallow nests in our barns.
- Waste : We organize waste sorting between organic waste, glass, plastic, cardboard, and paper.
- Compost : A compost bin is available for your use.
- Local Products : We prioritize short supply chains by sourcing eggs, meat, and other products from nearby farmers, and we recommend local producers to our guests.
- Transport : We favor cycling and encourage our guests to explore nearby greenways, bike paths, and scenic routes.
- Heritage : For the restoration of the manor, we work exclusively with local companies and regional artisans
- Activities : We collaborate with local nature guides and aromatherapists to help guests discover the flora and fauna of the Romécourt forests, and we regularly organize well-being retreats (yoga, meditation, personal development).
- Social Commitment : We coordinate a volunteer group, Les Amis de Romécourt, to create events (such as “Once Upon a Time: A Traditional Farm”) and strengthen community ties.
Our Commitment :
The Romécourt estate has been a natural jewel, preserved within the same family for five centuries. We are deeply committed to safeguarding this heritage, listed as a Historic Monument, as well as the surrounding natural environment.
Help us pass it on intact to future generations by contributing to the responsible management of resources.
We are committed to:
- Taking all necessary steps to obtain eco-tourism certifications (such as Valeurs Parc, Écogîtes, and Accueil Vélo)
- Drafting an environmental charter
- Raising our guests’ awareness of climate-friendly practices (eco-gestures) and the preservation of the estate and its ecosystem
- Improving our facilities to make them less energy-intensive
- Developing engaging and informative communication about the impact of our actions
- Encouraging our guests to be mindful of their energy consumption
- Prioritizing renewable energy sources
- Reducing energy loss related to buildings
We invite you to be part of this journey. Please feel free to share your ideas and suggestions to help make Romécourt an even more sustainable destination, while continuing to enhance the comfort of our cottages.
Every action counts. Thank you!
